ABOUT ME

My name is Dr. White-Eley, I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist and founder of Nexus Bridge, a practice dedicated to bridging clinical insight with legal-medical standards related to Veterans’ mental health disability claims. As a PhD-level Clinician and Certified Forensic Trauma Specialist with dual military service in both the Army and Air Force, my work is grounded in a comprehensive  understanding of psychological trauma, cultural context, and the complexities of the VA adjudication process. I bring a rigorous evidence-based approach of every case, ensuring that documentation reflects both clinical integrity and the lived realities of those who have served.

My professional practice is guided by a commitment to impartiality, fairness, and independence. In all mental health forensic evaluations, I strive to ensure accuracy, transparency, and integrity, recognizing the complex nature of the legal system and the critical importance of unbiased, evidence-based conclusions. Whether preparing Nexus Letters, Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), or conducting record reviews, I adhere to the highest standards of clinical and ethical rigor.

As a Veteran who has personally navigated the claims process, I understand its complexities from direct experience. Having crossed the Nexus Bridge myself, that lived perspective informs my clinical perspective and reinforces my commitment to approaching documentation and communication with clarity, precision, and respect.

Mental Health Nexus Letters

Nexus Letters are formal medical-legal documents that establish a connection between a Veteran’s current mental health condition and their military service. Documentation Guidance

Nexus Bridge is committed to integrating clinical expertise with legal-medical standards in the context of Veterans’ mental health disability claims. I bring a comprehensive understanding of trauma, cultural factors, and the complexities inherent in the VA adjudication process

My Process: From Intake to finalized Independent Opinion

At Nexus Bridge, I understand that navigating the VA claims system can feel overwhelming, especially when your trauma is complex, undocumented, or misunderstood. That’s why I’ve built a clear, structured process that honors your story, protects your privacy, and delivers forensic-level documentation designed to meet VA standards.

Step 1: Initial Contact & Consultation

Contact me via phone or email to initiate your evaluation. I will briefly discuss your needs, answer preliminary questions, and determine whether a Nexus Letter, DBQ, or both are appropriate for your case. You’ll have access to a secure intake packet tailored to your service history and clinical concerns.

Step 2: Intake & Record Submission

You will be asked to complete a comprehensive intake form and submit relevant documentation, which may include VA rating decisions, service records (such as the DD-214, deployment history, and specialty code), prior evaluations or treatment notes, and any available statements in support of your claim. These steps ensure that your evaluation is informed by both clinical insight and contextual evidence.

Step 3: Forensic Interview & Clinical Assessment

I may be required to conduct a structured clinical interview, virtually or in person, focused on DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, trauma chronology, symptom severity, and functional impairment. As a veteran and former Behavioral Health Officer, I approach this process with both clinical rigor and lived empathy.

Step 4: Comprehensive Record Review

I conduct a forensic-level analysis of all submitted materials, systematically cross-referencing your history with VA regulations, adjudicative precedents, and pertinent clinical literature. This approach ensures that the evaluation aligns with established evidentiary standards.

Step 5: Drafting Your Nexus Letter and/or DBQ

All documentation is prepared with precision, clarity, and adherence to applicable regulatory standards. Each Nexus Letter includes a DSM-5 diagnostic summary, an analysis of service-connected trauma, an overview of functional impairments, relevant legal and regulatory citations, and integration of applicable case law. Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) are completed in strict accordance with VA formatting requirements and rating criteria.

Step 6. Review & Finalization

After payment has been rendered, a draft of your documentation will be provided for your review. Any requested clarifications or revisions will be addressed prior to finalization. Once finalized, you will receive a signed and dated copy, prepared for submission to the Department of Veterans Affairs or your legal representative.
